In the age of immateriality and knowledge, considering the deep transformations generated by the contemporary crisis, design is a tool for interpreting changes and mediating different fields of re-search and action, integrating material, immaterial values and experiences. Change and innovation are the result of specific co-evolutionary interactions between people, tech-nologies, policies and infrastructures, in simultaneous and multi-dimensional processes. In this con-text, Advanced Design enables new social practices, new languages, responsible approaches and behav-iors, original time dimensions. Opening to a plurality of contributions, the book offers possible narratives about design cultures as prototypes of mutation, in order to identify points of continuity and rupture in the evolution of humans-city-nature relations.
